MYOB and Single Touch Payroll

I have an AccountRight subscription

Great! All but the absolute base package should allow you to pay staff and lodge your STP reports.  You may need to activate STP to start lodging. MYOB AccountRight is basically the traditional version of MYOB.

I’m using MYOB Essentials

MYOB Essentials most resembles Xero & Quickbooks in terms of its user experience as it works directly out of a web browser.  It is aimed at small businesses. All MYOB Essentials packages appear to be STP compliant, however only the top subscription allows you to pay more than 1 employee.  You’ll need to turn on STP functionality.

I’m using MYOB AccountEdge for Mac

We understand that the latest version is STP ready.  You can find instructions for set up on MYOB’s website.

I don’t have an AccountRight or Essentials Subscription / I’m not sure

Many of our clients are still using older versions of MYOB desktop software.  The simple rule is, if you’re not paying for MYOB on a monthly basis, then it’s likely you’ll need to upgrade.   Unfortunately, it seems that without one of these subscriptions, your software will not have the in-built capability to comply with STP.

Our recommendation is to upgrade or take the opportunity to move to a true cloud based software – i.e. Xero.

Alternatively, you could use an external software like GovReports to meet your STP obligations. We do recommend using an all-in-one software package though as STP and SuperStream requirements have made it growingly cumbersome to maintain easy to follow records.
